Role
As a collaborator, Amalya engaged with the high schoolers in conversation to deepen her understanding of police surveillance in Baltimore. Amalya conducted the research for the Wall of Names, recovering over 1000 names of people murdered by police in Baltimore since 1960.
About the Exhibit
As part of her Social Design course, Amalya's senior design class collaborated with the Augusta Fells Savage Institute of Visual Arts (AFSIVA), a high school one block away from the the unrest that occurred in Baltimore, MD in April 2015. The two student groups worked together in order to tell the story from the youth perspective.
Outcome
The exhibit opening attracted over 250 guests. The project also attracted a significant amount of media representation.
